The Plough is yet another of Arkell's splendid old pubs - now with a completely new lease of life.
Now under the management of Cirencester's dynamic culinary duo, Sam & Jak, the pub has been transformed to offer a fresh, exciting menu of classic pub dining with a smokey offering on the side.
That and 2 letting rooms on their way & a beautiful pub garden for the warmers months adds up to a new Plough at Stratton that may still be something of an off-the-beaten-track little pub but one well worth finding.
A little bit of history...
The front of the building is thought to go back way into the 18th century, though much of it dates to about a hundred years later. It was altered to its current state in 1970 and Arkell's purchased it in 1991.
Much more recently, the whole character of the pub has changed since the building of the new road to Gloucester. Traffic used to thunder past the pub as it passed through Stratton - which, by the way, should not be confused with the Strattons near Swindon.
